Choose spring flowering bulbs as soon as available. They often disappear quickly from retailers. You can also order bulbs on-line!
Plant cool-season annuals like pansies and ornamental cabbage or kale when temperatures begin to cool. If you have never grown pansies you will be surprised by how much winter color they can bring to your landscape.
Start preparing your houseplants that you brought out for summer by checking pest problems and moving to more shade if they are in direct sunlight. This will prevent shock when you bring them in in mid-October.
